About Girls Clinic Lacrosse

Girls Clinic Lacrosse is for preparing young girls (pre-K to 1st or 2nd grade) to eventually play competitive lacrosse while also having fun and learning to enjoy the game.  It also functions as a way to release lots of energy.

The objective is to teach the girls basic skills such as scooping the ball from the ground, shooting at the net, moving/holding with the ball in the crosse (cradling), passing the ball and catching the ball while learning the basic rules.  The girls may not learn all of these skills well by the end of their time in Clinic but they will definitely have fun and retain quite a bit of the skills they do pick up.

The girls will practice for about an hour 3 times a week (Tuesdays/Thursdays in the late afternoon and Saturday in the morning) from mid-March until the beginning of May.  At the beginning of May they will begin to participate in scrimmages with other girls of their age from various other organizations.  These scrimmages are built around 6 on 6 play with target nets instead of goaltenders and coaches as referees.  The scrimmages, managed by Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks, take place on Tuesday and Thursday early evenings and replaces the practices for those days.  The Saturday practice will continue.  Scrimmages are played at local fields with Rolling Knolls being our home field.  The season runs until the end of May at which time there are trophies and a party.

Recently (late 2006/early 2007) we conducted a survey to see how our program was perceived by our members and we are proud to present the results.   On the question about how well the respondents thought we performed in Girls Lacrosse, we received an average vote of 4.11 out of a scale of 0=Poor to 5=Exceptional.   We had no vote below 3 and 44% of the responses were for Exceptional.  This shows we are doing many things right but still we have room for improvement.  We thank our members for their help.
